Connor Swift rode to tenth-place at the British time trial championships in Northumberland, with Mike Cuming 14th.
Swift’s time of 51:57.92 over the 39.7km rolling course was three minutes down on winner Geraint Thomas (Team Sky).
In a top-10 featuring four World Tour riders, Swift acquitted himself well on his senior debut.
Opening his effort strongly and passing the first split in third position, Swift held his place to the finish.
However, as one of the early starters his ranking was always at risk and times started to tumble as the competition progressed.
Ultimately, Swift’s time held up for a commendable tenth, in a line-up featuring established international names.
Starting later, Mike Cuming finished 14th, 40-seconds down on teammate Swift.
Both riders will recover ahead of the road race on 1 June.
