Connor Swift rode to a memorable solo victory at round six of the Tour Series, attacking ten minutes from the finish and winning alone in Bath, on a night when Madison Genesis took the individual win, team win and series lead.
Racing in the town that the team had won the 2015 Tour Series, Bath saw another inspired performance on a night that had offered little in the way of excitement.
With just ten minutes of action remaining, Connor Swift – in just his fourth Tour Series race start – launched a scintillating attack.
He quickly gained a few seconds on a large group of riders who were surely planning for a sprint finish. But out front Swift had other ideas, increasing his lead to nearly 30-seconds.
Behind, teammates Tobyn Horton, Johnny McEvoy and Alex Paton worked to disrupt the chase from rival teams, before placing well enough to secure Madison Genesis the team win, restoring their series lead and sealing the hat-trick.
The result was the perfect antidote after two consecutive challenging races, where the team had to stick together and chase others, limiting their losses and tirelessly working to stay in contention for the series victory.
With their win in Bath, that work paid dividends and the team go in to the final week of competition with the lead and a chance of regaining the trophy that now-team manager Mike Northey, last lifted as a rider in 2015.
The series continues on Tuesday in Motherwell, before visiting Aberdeen and Durham next week and concluding in Stevenage on Monday 29 May.
