Ian Bibby signalled his return to form, winning the Lancaster GP and with it the overall lead of the National Road Series.
Bibby’s result came after over 160km of racing on relentless roads in the north of England.
The serial national-series winner took his best result of the season in a race of attrition.
Sprinting to victory from a small group of four riders, Bibby’s success came after an attacking final 10-kilometres.
With a reduced peloton catching the breakaway, Bibby hung on to the repeated attacks that followed over the challenging closing stages.
Backing himself to perform at the business-end of the race, Bibby even chased down a threatening move and put everything on the line.
His risk paid off and he led the select group through the final twists of the narrow finishing funnel, punching the air in celebration.
