George Pym finished 20th in a group of 40 riders who made it to the finish of the 2019 edition of the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic.
The race – usually famed for the divisive nature of its gravel sectors – took on a different character as a large bunch made it to the finish line.
With 165km of the 198.5km race distance complete, the early breakaway of three riders was caught and the race was poised for a showdown.
But due to the large number of fresh riders still in the peloton, attacks only served to line out the race, rather than cause a decisive split.
A high-pace run-in to the finish Melton Mowbray strung out the bunch, where the sprinters enjoyed an unlikely edition of the race.
