Connor Swift sprinted into 11th at a tense edition of the Dwars Door Vlaamse Ardennen.
A large group of riders returned to the finishing circuit in Erpe Mere and a bunch sprint was the only way the race would be decided.
Swift was positioned well in the final kilometres, inside the top-10 riders as a long line formed into the final chicane.
The uphill sprint to the line didn’t go in his favour however, as he was squeezed against the barriers.
Swift was one of four Madison Genesis riders to finish in the lead group, after a challenging race through Flanders.
Isaac Mundy, Taylor Gunman and Mike Cuming made it through 200km of cobbles and famous bergs – including the Oude Kwaremont and Muur Kapelmuur.
The early sectors of pave were where the race began to split and the first break of the day, which featured Rich Handley was caught midway up the Paterberg.
What followed was 120km of relentless attacking, with anyone toward the rear of the bunch at risk of being distanced, or facing a long chase back on.
With 50km to race, Swift became one to watch as he attacked and bridged to one of many lead groups throughout the final moments of the race.
Ultimately the peloton had the final say and it was a controlled ride that brought order in the concluding 30km and a bunch kick.
