A frustrated Tobyn Horton sprinted to fifth place at the British criterium championships in Stockton in a hectic race finish.
Horton and Madison Genesis had been prominent throughout a race which became a wearing down process, as the peloton reduced to just 20 riders.
Connor Swift, Isaac Mundy, Rich Handley and Johnny McEvoy were also part of the final shake up, as riders jostled for position to decide the one-hour race.
Attacks from Swift, Handley and Horton couldn’t change the course of the competition which was played out on a narrow and winding, technical course.
Horton – the team’s designated sprinter – entered the final laps in a good position but was squeezed out in the final moments, denying a podium finish.
