Mike Northey has been confirmed as Madison Genesis’ new assistant team manager, after being forced to retire from racing due to a heart virus earlier this year.
Northey who first joined the team as a rider in 2014, was part of the 2015 series-winning Tour Series squad, also scoring a win at the Beverley Criterium and taking second at the Lincoln GP.
But on the eve of the 2016 Tour de Yorkshire and following a series of extensive medical tests, Mike was forced to announce that he would no longer ride a bike competitively due to a heart virus that had caused irreparable damage.
However, Mike re-joined the team at round six of the Tour Series in Durham, where for the first time he appeared in his new role of assistant team manager.
The allows Mike to pursue a new path as part of the Madison Genesis family, who are fully supportive of his return to the team.
