Madison Genesis is proud to announce that Mike Northey has completed his return to the team as manager, following his enforced retirement from racing earlier this year.
After a period spent at home adjusting to life away from the squad, Mike returned to the UK in May to join up with the team in an assistant’s role. He will now take over the position of team manager full time.
Following a transitional period, Mike spoke about what it meant to be managing the team and guiding Madison Genesis to success on the road.
He said: “When Kellie (Parsons – Madison marketing director) and Roger (Hammond – Madison Genesis consultant team manager) asked me if I'd like to come over and help manage the team, I was excited but scared at the same time!
“To be honest, being a team manager was not something I envisaged myself doing once I stopped racing. But being given the opportunity to come and work with everyone again was something I couldn't pass up.
“Rog always said to me he wanted to give us the best opportunities to perform which is what I'm trying to do now. I'm lucky to be working with such a professional and motivated group of guys, it definitely makes my job easier!”
Kellie Parsons was equally excited to welcome Mike’s return and she said: “It’s great to have Mike back. As an exceptional rider and strong competitor, his news earlier this year was a shock to us all.
“As a racer Mike was the perfect fit for the squad and now he is ready, we are delighted for him to continue as a key part of Madison Genesis. We are very much a family on the road and his return to the team has been welcomed by everyone.”
Madison Genesis continue their season with domestic and European competition, punctuated by a training camp where the team will look to hone their form for selection into the Tour of Britain.
