In five years Gruff has progressed from winning the 2011 Tour of the Mining Valleys as a second category rider, to wearing the jersey of best British rider at the 2016 Tour de Yorkshire.
Lewis’ progression took a huge step when he joined Madison Genesis in 2016, where he started his season with a best-ever national road series result – seventh at the Chorley GP.
Second on the secteurs of the Rutland – Melton CiCLE Classic identified him as one of Britain’s breakthrough riders of the year.
“For me 2016 was my most successful season on the road. Madison and its professionalism had a big part in this, but also ultimately it’s also down to my own professionalism and dedication at home.
“I really enjoy the early season as winter motivation has built to the point that I just want to smash races. Again I will be looking the classic British races, Chorley GP, Rutland, Tour de Yorkshire and Lincoln GP.
“Also I’m really looking forward to racing with the added fire power of new riders.”
